Dragged strie finish in the entry way. Although the same glaze was applied to the other public living area's of the home, the strie application and the limited availability of natural light in the entryway make the glaze seem slightly deeper and richer in tone while still blending beautifully with the other spaces

Rubbed parchment oil glaze to simulate aged golden adobe. The client built this house himself to be a modern interpretation of an old adobe. The walls are 4' thick and in it's entirety the structure required 800 tons of rock to produce. Tucson, Arizona

Rubbed parchment oil glaze. The color was chosen to simulate old lime washed adobe, but also to compliment the stone and wood that are evident throughout the construction of the house. The cross-beams in this photo are salvaged from a bridge truss that was being dismantled and the richness of the brown is heightened by the golden finish. Tucson, Arizona

Rubbed parchment oil glaze. If you look closely at the right and left sides of this photo it shows the undulating quality of the wall surface. There isn't a flat wall surface in the entire home! The glaze was a perfect choice for this structure because it further enhanced the play of shadow and light created by the undulations in the wall. Tucson, Arizona

This window, like the others in the living room and hall, was enhanced by the addition of a small shadow line and a more yellow glaze to the area of the sill and it's surround. This was done to accent the two-foot sill depth and to make the light coming in the windows warm and rich throughout the day. Tucson, Arizona

Bronze trellis design over a taupe rubbed finish. This is in an otherwise white dining room with a ceiling that's about 14'. The client wanted something to add a little drama to the ceiling and balance the fact that the chandelier is offset. Pleasanton, California

Closeup of the bronze trellis design. The trellis is executed in a single color of metallic bronze paint that is manipulated into various washes and enhanced with metallic gold watercolor paint to further the effect and add more depth. Pleasanton, California
